'…our family really enjoyed this coastal walk and it was good to find the crabs, anemones and abalone, and the elephant snail was amazing. We'd never have found those ourselves so thanks for finding them for us Sharon! The kids enjoyed the crabs the most. We didn't know there was an old volcano under us –amazing!....'

This section of the coast has been gouged and sculpted by years of wind and wave erosion, forming fantastic shapes on the rock platforms and cliffs. The red and yellow ochres in some sections are stunning. This area was formed by volcanic and wave action and the sediments in this area are renowned for their fossil history.
We stop to explore the rock pools, seeing an abalone and scurrying crabs. An elephant snail is hiding under a ledge and the Neptune's Necklace ripples in the pools. As we head on we notice how the waves are breaking forming rolling surges of power. The Southern Ocean!
We stop at the Mermaid's Pool for morning tea, marvelling at the swirling waters.
